 Indicators 1234567
KEY 6 - INDICATOR 6
Students are provided with personal instruction and feedback.

This indicator documents the instructional strategies teachers use to provide students feedback about their performance. The quality of the feedback is based on sound instructional practices, materials, and resources.

See the background information on selection of instructional materials at the end of this section.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
  1. Examine whether or not a common understanding exists in your school about providing students with oral feedback on their academic performance when teachers are not grading work.

  2. What is the understanding among teachers who teach the same grade or subject about the kind of feedback that students should receive to help them evaluate their own performance and make improvements?

ACTIVITY
  • In an open staff meeting, facilitate a discussion on the extent to which teachers receive support and the time they need to individualize instruction. Ask for recommendations on how to improve such needed support and time.
