Teachers have regularly scheduled time to learn from one another.

This indicator examines the quality and quantity of teacher-to-teacher professional development in your school, including meetings and planning periods.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
  1. How do teachers provide professional assistance to their colleagues? What are the most effective ways of providing this assistance?

  2. How willing are teachers to seek and accept assistance from colleagues?

  3. What changes in current attitudes, skills, and relationships are needed to develop high quality teacher-to-teacher professional development?

ACTIVITY
  • Encourage groups of teachers to work together over time to enhance instructional practice. Keep an inventory of classroom practices. Document recommendations for program design. (You can use this activity with Indicator 11.)
